Meeting The Disney Princesses (May 31, 2019)

During one of my many visits to Disneyland in Anaheim California, I met up with the Disney Princesses at the Royal Hall, located near the Sleeping Beauty Castle between Fantasyland and Frontierland. They were Snow White, Cinderella, and Ariel. During this particular visit, I spoke up in defense of the Princesses against some flack the Internet has given them over the years.

First, there was Cinderella. I reminded her of how even when she was locked up in her room away from the slipper fitting, her mice friends risked their lives to get the key back. And that wouldn’t have happened if Cindy didn’t show kindness to the mice friends. Also, it was HER idea to for the birds to get the dog to scare off the cat, allowing her mice friends to get her the key. So, really, Cindy actually saved herself and won her happy ending. Plus, while a Fairy Godmother granted her wish to go to the ball, it wasn’t necessarily her wish to meet the Prince. In fact, when Midnight was coming, she tried to excuse herself by claiming she hasn’t met the Prince not realizing until later the man she danced with is the Prince himself. Plus, I asked her why the Prince fell in love with her, and she told me it was because she was the only one not lined up to meet the Prince. She said she and the Prince fell in love because when they first saw each other, it wasn’t because they knew the other was royalty. It was because they could sense the goodness in each other. And when Cindy met her Prince again after the fitting, he was at first surprise to learn she was a dishmaid, but in the end, he loved her regardless of social status. So, I know Cindy really saved herself in the climax of her film and she and the Prince genuienely fell in love not knowing the others social standing, meaning their love was more true than some people give them credit for.

Next, I met Snow White. When I asked her about apples, she told me she’s learned not to take Apples from Strangers, and that the Dwarfs were still hard at work doing what they like to do in the mines: to dig, dig, dig, dig, dig, dig dig for diamonds by the score and rubies and so much more even though they don’t know what they dig them for.

Finally I met Ariel, the Former Little Mermaid. I did help point out that even before meeting Eric, she already wanted to be a part of our world above the waves. Ursula simply took advantage of Ariel feeling she has no other choice after her father destroyed her collection of human things. Plus, she referred to her daughter Melody from the direct to video sequel, Little Mermaid 2.

All in all, this visit to the Disney Princesses has been a lovely one. I hope to see them again soon.
